Amelie Poster

For this project, I created an alternative poster for the movie Amélie (dir. Jean-Pierre Jeunet. While the original poster for Amélie is an iconic image in pop culture, I felt as though it did little to allude to the story. Therefore, in my design I decided to center the composition on the photobook the deuterantagonist, Nino, carries throughout the film. Replacing the photos Nino collects, I placed memorable stills from the film. With this design, I intended for the whimsical nature of Amélie to immediately register in the mind of potential viewers.

Basic details such as the red background, yellow tint to the book, and curling script typeface reference both the original poster and the visual quality of the film itself. These choices allow the poster to feel cohesive with the source inspiration.
